Detailed Day Wise Itinerary
Day 1 – Transfer to Kandy and Kandy City Tour
After you reach the Colombo Airport, head to Kandy, which is around 115-km drive. Freshen up and then, proceed to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. With more than 90 elephants, this place has the largest number of captive elephants in the world. Tour the Kandy City and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. It is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka, as it houses the tooth relic of Buddha. Proceed to visit the Kandy Lake, also known as the Sea of Milk or Kiri Muhuda. This artificial lake is protected and fishing is banned here. Visit the Cultural Show in Kandy, which is one of the most famous events for tourists during their trip to Sri Lanka. This event upholds the Sri Lankan folklore dance which is prevailed from historic times. Walking on fire is the final event in the Cultural Show. Proceed to the Gem factory in Kandy and learn how the gems are mined. You can also see an array of beautiful jewellery with colourful gems for sale here. After a hearty dinner, retire for the night in Kandy.
Day 2 – Day Trip to Nuwara Eliya
Have a filling breakfast and then proceed for the city tour of Nuwara Eliya, which is a 3-hour drive from Kandy. The city of Nuwara Eliya, also called as the City of Light, is a picturesque city in the Central Mountain Range of Sri Lanka. It has a pleasant climate and lush green meadows. Visit the Tea Factory and Tea Plantation at Nuwara Eliya and enjoy a guided tour or relish a cup of brewing hot tea here. Later, return to Kandy and have a sumptuous dinner. Enjoy your overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 3 – From Kandy to Colombo and Colombo City Tour
After having breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Colombo city. It is advised to do the check-in in the evening after you finish the sightseeing. Visit Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple and the Parliament Building of Sri Lanka. Then, head to Panchamukha Hanuman Temple, which is the oldest Ramayana-era temple in the country. Then, proceed to Pettah Bazaar, Sri Lanka’s busiest commercial area, where you can find shops, textiles, buildings and many business firms. Visit the Old Colombo Lighthouse, which still functions as a clock tower. Enjoy a delicious dinner and retire for the day in Colombo.
Day 4 – Leisure and Transfer to the Airport
Check out from the hotel after a healthy breakfast. You can spend the rest of the time at your leisure or shop for souvenirs. Later, head to the airport for your return journey.
